Craftsman lt2000 18hp. 917.273751 Ohv starts and runs good for about 6 mins and then cuts off. New gas cap. Good gas flow to carb. I checked coil when engine stopped and ohm read 13k, cold reading was around 9k. What should a warm coil be reading if good? Noticed motor tried to rev up as it was dieing, but only for about 2 second, then motor stopped. Any ideas.

Check your valve gaps.

forget about checking ohms, what you do is put spark plug in your pocket and go mowing, when it dies pull the plug wire, plug the plug from your pocket in and hold to engine ground while turning the key. THAT is how you test the coil, then you can test ohms if you want to see just for curiosity

next, if you have spark, clamp off or plug off gas line to carburetor, unplug and unscrew the fuel shutoff solenoid (fuel in bowl will pour out). watch the plunger get sucked down when you turn on the key to confirm its staying open, those go bad too when they get hot.

Rev'ing before stopping indicates fuel starvation.
