Motor dies when I release the left foot pedel

While using my 638 AL MTD Yard Machine today for the third time (Bought New House that it came with) was mowing on and off for the last few days and all off a sudden it dies!! It restarts ok, but when I put it in gear and let out (back towards me) the left foot pedel it dies again! It won't go forward or in reverse Any help would be great. Thanks Brad.

Check the safety switch under the seat to see it the plunger is being pushed all the way down when you sit on it.

Thanks but it has no safety switch on this model ! But U made it some what easy to find the problem. It is in the seat. The two springs must make an electrical circuit when pushed down by somebody sitting on the seat! This seems to be my problem. I've got it to run a few times today by adjusting the seat and the springs. I gave up after the third time it quit running today. Will try again in the am if I had my gun with me I would have shot the sob. Thanks for the help you sent me in the right direction. Brad

Believe me, unless your unit is over 15 years old there is a seat safety switch. All you might see is a small plunger sticking up, the wires might be under the sheet metal.
