Modify deck to cut grass taller?

I have a 91 Broadmoor with a 38" deck that cuts 3" max. I was hoping to get it to 4 or 5". Im just wondering if anyone has ever found a way to modify the deck to get more height out of it. Could it be as simple as making the threaded rod longer? Maybe this will just lead to other problems. Thanks for your time
