I just got a yard machines by MTD 42" 17HP twin Briggs & Stratton engine riding lawn mower. It is an automatic transaxle and says it is manufactured to be used with fast attach accessories. The model/serial number sticker has fallen off below the seat. Is this information anywhere else on the tractor? It also says 17LT on the hood.
Thanks,
Scott

TAKE SOME PICTURES....AND GIVE US THE ENGINE NUMBERS..
its a year 2000........17hp briggs opposed twin engine..........the auto is probably like my bronco....a varidrive automatic done with special pulleys..........what else do you want to know?.........
The mower deck is severely rusted. I was hoping there was another spot on the tractor that would give me the model number so I can price out a new deck housing. I have started going through the parts manuals on the mtdparts website and found one that looks the same, but if I am going to pay that much for a piece of steel, I want to make sure I am getting the correct one. It looks like Dual Belt Design Drive System deck.
I would also like to find the correct owners/parts manuals, etc., which I need the model number for. Are there any online resources where I can find parts number for the major components and try to narrow down the model?
Thank you very much for the information, reddragon. I will check into these websites.

many used mower parts places will sell a deck for $75-100.....get it off an MTD that has that dash blade engagement lever on the left of your steer wheel...and it should fit....i have almost the identical mower as yours....so feel free to ask questions:smile:

There must be a mistake - are you sure this is an MTD? After all, the only cheap mowers that broke and rusted out, according to this forum, were MURRAYS. I contend that if they can have a mower like MTD on this forum, Murray deserves a slot, too.
Just my 2 cents. If you agree, back me up in site discussion, please. I think a Murray forum is in order. I have been suggesting it for literally MONTHS, to no avail......:frown:

absolutely !....Murrays are cheapy mowers.....but my widebody is the most comfortable mower ever [i have long legs].....and after all they have the same transmissions and engines as everybody else .....youll just need a couple tubes of Locktite and locknuts and you'll have a mower that last years....they're also the easiest mowers to work on IMHO
