I have a nice 5273 that was running great and then
one day, no spark. The dealer said that it is a
discontinued part. No luck on ebay.
Any ideas where to look?

Lots of things are "discontinued" from the dealer. Yawn. Generally, all parts that wear with use, or go bad from age are available from aftermarket vendors. No worries. You can get coils for "C", "D" engine lawnboys as well as CDI coils for all "F", "V" and Duraforce engines.

So, what did you find???

Earnht 3, please share what you found...

You took the time to research this, asked for the help here. Found your answer, with or without the information you found here.

Please tell us the part number and a source. Maybe some day, another owner may need that information you discovered.
I feel we should always try to go back and pay it forward. Help out the next guy.

I think it was shop lawn boy.com where I found the part #.
The # is 681-542 or 94-7418
I found the part on ebay. It was after market, but that's ok.

I never understood why they discontinue certain parts like that. For my 2 Lawn Boys I can buy a new crankshaft and connecting rod which are 2 parts that pretty much never need replacing but the piston, rings and cylinder are discontinued. It doesn't make any sense.

I think the answer to this is quite obvious, from your statement. All parts are probably sold from existing stocks, those parts that are more frequently worn and replaced would have had inventory that has run out, but parts that seldom wear out will still have inventory in the warehouse. I seriously doubt Toro/Lawnboy has new big parts cast to replenish stocks. Small service parts are another story, floats, seals, needles and seats, ignition modules are continued to be offered, and stocks are replenished until sales volume goes below a certain point. You shouldn't have any problem getting rings, or a new piston, as those are offered by after-market vendors.
