Missing vacuum line?

Missing vacuum line? (White fitting) B&S 500E. Numbers on carb body: 284952, A13513, 798674. Pumped primer bulb about 15 times. Engine fired 2 or 3 times, then nothing. Murray Model 961140029 02. Serial # 0226 14M 031800. Catalog M22500 It was running fine. Shut it down after mowing. Next attempt, won't run.

It is not used put a vacuum cap on it.

That fitting is for a hose from the primer bulb. If the hose came unplugged, that would probably explain your starting problem. In my experience Briggs and Stratton does not just put vacuum fittings on their carbs for no reason. If it's not used, they cap it off or put a plug in it.
