A lady at my Church asked me to look at her John Deere zero turn mower. It is a 757 and I have similar mower with 25 h.P. Kawasaki. Her's is a 23 but engine looks like same basic configuration. The engine was low on oil and looked like a leak from the front of then engine. It is a 2004 mower.
I first thought the drain cock was leaking but now I believe it is something else. Does anyone know if these engines have something that developes such a leak, maybe it's coming from under the front cover of engine.

I suspect valve cover gasket is the cause. Clean and dry the unit. Old trick I've learned is to spray the areas I suspect with baby powder, let stand watch for an oil flow pattern. It will lead you back to the cause.

Come to find out it was the main seal in the rear of the engine.....
