My JD LX176 lawn tractor(1997) won't turn over with the key. I can jump the solenoid and it will start and run.
I bought a new key switch, the one with the electronic card attached and it does the same thing. I tested out the card with my meter and when I go to the off position there is no circuit to any of the pins. In the run position 2 pins show continuity. In the start position there is no continuity. The old key switch shows the same problem.
The pin that has the black/white wire goes to the solenoid and the wire checks out OK. The red power wire feeds 2 other pins when the key is in run position. Anyone had this problem.... is it possible I have a bad key switch from John Deere?
