My LX 176 stops running when I engage the mower switch, and the battery light stays on for 10 seconds or so after starting. The light then pulsates dim and bright.
A flickering idiot light normally means a problem with the charging system. If the battery is not fully charged, it may not have enough power to run both the PTO and engine. Start by testing the charging system and battery state of charge.
