I have a John Deere LX 279 Lawn Tractor with the Kawasaki V-twin engine, and when it gets hot it shuts down just like you turned the key off. You can try to restart and the starter turns over, however the mower won't even hit. I have checked and it is indeed getting gas so I know the problem isn't fuel related. I have replaced both spark plugs, coils and ignitor pack still having the same problem. Once it cools down you can restart it and it and it will run for anything from a half hour to several hours depending on how hard the engine is pulled. Any suggestions??

Check next time to see if there is a spark, if there isn't one it seems that you are looking for something that is killing (grounding) the engine when hot, like the kill wire to near the exhaust, or interlock switch/s, check also if it has a fuel solenoid if so check it. I don't have a manual for this one, and can't find one on the web, if you have one post up a copy, also look to see if there is a ignition relay fitter the LX188 did have them, and check fuel tank vent.
