Mower deck LT4000 - broken mower control level tension spring

The tension spring that holds the mower control lever against the cut off switch broke and isn't available anymore for my model. Anyone know of any alternatives, subs or homemade fixes?

Can you post a picture of the spring and assembly so we can see what you are talking about? Do you have the part number?
Bungee cord until you find a replacement?
