Hi,
I bought my mower March 2012. Yesterday the belt came off of the left pulley (when sitting on mower) and the pulley was bent. My son got the belt off with some difficulty and now the pulley is completely loose ( the blade moves with pulley movement) but the mandrel(?) seems in place. My son doesn't know anything about lawn mowers.
I never had this problem with the older Murray's and Mtd's I had.
My questions are:
a) can this be tightened?
.....or if not....
b) Is this covered under my 2 yr non expendable parts warranty?

I would venture to guess that a bent pulley would not be covered since that is not normal wear and tear but you'll need to look at your warrantly paperwork to determine that for sure. Assuming the threads on the top of the mandrel are not damaged and the same for the nut, it should be able to tighten back up.

Thanks for your reply. I'll check with Sears on warranty but I will pull the deck off and look at it closer. I'm a single mom and wanted more info before I did anything else.

No problem. Depending on your warranty, Sears probably will cover the pulley. I used to do mower repair for them and if the customer had a warranty there were no questions asked at all. I bet you will be just fine. Good luck!
