LT1000 steering - can someone take a measurement for me?

So I have an older LT1000 that works great, had it under a year. One problem since day 1 is that the steering never quite worked - going to the left the steering would overshoot and get locked almost sideways, and going to the right, it had a pretty big turning radius. Anyway, I finally looked at the mechanism this weekend, and nothing appears broken, and the only two possibilities I see are
1) The steering mechanism is misaligned/out-of-whack
2) The steering drag-link was replaced by the previous owner at some point with the wrong part - seems very long.

Anyway, the link to the manual is here:
Owner's Manual - CRAFTSMAN Lawn, Tractor 917271811 - ManageMyLife.com

The drag-link PN is 175121 - which is find number 10 on the steering diagram (page 40). If anyone has this model tractor (917271811), can you measure the bolt-to-bolt distance? I want to make sure that I'd be ordering the right part if I do.

Disregard - the front axle assembly, upon closer inspection, is torqued. So I get to replace that. Ah, the joys of buying used...
