Looking to buy

So I purchased my first home. Just a townhouse, but I'm still very happy with it.

That said, I now need to buy a mower, since it is all individual responsibility here. Local bylaw recommends mulching for the lawn and to reduce garbage bags, etc, blah blah

I'm kind of stuck on which to get. I've been doing a lot of researching about each of the choices and narrowed it down to 3.

Yard Machines 21-in 2-in-1 Gas Lawn Mower - $229 at Canadian Tire
5.0 GT, Briggs & Stratton OHV 139 cc engine
- I understand that this is a decent engine for the price, but quality on everything else can be hit or miss. Particularly when it comes to the wheels (which shouldn't be hard to fix so I'm not too worried about that) and the starting abilities.
- Comes with a 2 year repair only warranty through Can Tire.

CRAFTSMANｮ/MD 21'' 3-In-1 Gas Push Mower - $229 at Sears (on sale this weekend for $199)
Craftsman OHV 140 cc engine
- Apparently Craftsman is a middle of the road engine. Middle price, but middle quality too.
- 2 year warranty, probably through Sears only.

MURRAY 5.5 TP 21" 2-in-1 Push Mower - $188 at Walmart
Briggs & Stratton 550 Series 158 cc engine
- No info available about warranty, likely comparable to the other 2.

At this point, I'm leaning towards the Walmart one because of the bigger engine and cheaper price. But Can Tire usually has kick *** deals. I just don't know when theirs would go on sale again. I saw it on sale a couple weeks ago for $169. Kicking myself for not buying it then.

Thoughts?

There's also a YardWorks brand with a 173cc Koehler engine for $299. 4 year warranty. But that on might be a bit more than I need/want.

My lawn mowing business partner bought a new Craftsman mower last year, and the quality just seems kind of cruddy. The wheels already seem to be bent, and he's had a lot of problems with it. I can't say much about the others, or the engines, but that is just my opinion on the Craftsman. If you could stretch your budget a bit, I would look at some of the Toro's, or maybe a used Snapper. If you have a small lawn, then you might be able to get one of the Murray's or Yard Man's to last, but you would have to take great care of it.

The toro 20 in super recycler with the 7.0 torque honda clone engine with atomic blade was my favorite mulcher was only 250 and it lasted commercial use for 2 seasons. Needed small things fixed here and there but maintenance is the key to any mower

I don't know if you have any Lowe's or Home Depot type stores in Canada, but I would look at maybe finding a customer returned mower, or check out a dealer for a good used mower. That way you can get a good, quality mower for the same price, if not cheaper, as the ones you listed.
