I have a Kioti.

In our local area the only dealers are Kubota, John Deere, and Case New Holland or what ever the equipment is now. (used to be Ford).

Therefore driving a distance is out of the question for me. I would have looked at the other brands if they had a local dealer.

The nearest Kioti dealer is two hours away from my house and the dealer is in Lebanon, Maine.

I recently spent some time surfing to educate myself on the steps from lawn , to garden, and compact tractor. There's a lot out there . The most confusing to me is the JDeere range- reminds me of the Mercedes model nomenclatures ( maybe in price , too:smile:) Anyway. A real service to readers might be a definition chart with some models and ball park prices, especially some background on brands:mahindra, kioti, cub cadet, etc. Perhaps this is not the forum for this, rather "tractorbynet?"

Money is the great separator of tractor choice. As one "tractor journalist"put it. Unless you are careful you will have an $1800 boat anchor (example was trying to pull plow with garden tractor) or a $20K lawn mower.

I bought the 3010 Kubota 4wd with a front end loader on it. It has 600 hours on it. Everything appears to be in good shape. It runs good and has good tires on it. It is a 30 hp tractor. It weighs in at 2700#'s so it is heavy enough to pull a box blade and a 5' disc as well as a 5' bush hog. Yet it is light enough to trailer easy.

I have not hired out a tractor in years but I am told by several that the going rate for a tractor that size is $50/hr with a 2 hour minimum plus hauling for over 10 miles. We will see.

In our part of the world there is a considerable amount of work to be done in another couple of months getting hunting club roads and food plots ready for deer season.

If we did not run equipment commercially 2 hours would work. However many weeks I end up going in to my dealer daily for something. The local dealer that I use carries Kubota, Scag, and Echo. As we update equipment we are trying to get everything we have in one of those brands.

We still have a few pieces of Stihl, and a Shindiawa blower. Both have local dealers but the dealer we use seems to go the extra mile to help keep us going and is as reasonable if not more reasonable on price as the others.
