looking for help with a k341

hi there, im new to this forum and wanted to introduce myself and see if i coule get some help at the same time. my name is bill im from southwest pa, i have 2 lawn tractors, an allis chalmers and bolens. but my problem is with the bolens, i bought it last year and it ran good till the rod/ballence gears broke, so i replaced it with another kohler k341 this one from a john deere 316. i have had it running but not very well, i have to keep the choke on. i have replaced the head gasket(was leaking) and the fuel pump becase i thought it wasnt getting enough fuel hence having to run with the choke on. i have also rebuilt the carb. i wanted to talk to someone who has a k341 in a john deere becase i am wondering if i have the right fuel pump on it, i used the one from the orinal blown up engine and know there are several differnt ones. also if anyone has any ideas i am all ears, thanks in advance
