I have a Scag Freedom Z that is about 10 years old. The right wheel quit turning the other day, so I pulled the transaxle apart to check it out. I found a good amount of damage where both cylinder blocks ride on the center section. I am debating on whether or not to try to repair it, but I found a potential replacement on ebay that won't break the bank, but it has a slightly different part number.

I have a: ZL-GCEF-3LKF-1NXX
ebay has: ZL-GCEF-3BKB-1PXX

Does anyone here know if these are compatible?

I don't think SO since yours RH and the on eBay is a LH.

Huh, the description said right side, so that's what I was going off of. Is there an easy way to tell?
