This was my grandmothers mower that was sitting since the 1980's in storage. I brought it to our summer house and got it started. I pushed it about a foot and it sounded like I hit something. I thought I left a screw driver on the ground but didn't see anything. Then I found a couple pieces of something that broke that attaches to the blade. I'm not sure of the proper name for it but I can't seem to find any information for this brand of mower so that I can get the correct part. It's a Briggs & Straton 3HP. I was hoping one of you could point me in the right direction. Photos attached.

Hi, that's the blade adaptor. I'd just see if any local mower repair guys have spare ones that they'll sell you cheap, I know I usually have at least a half dozen of those laying around and I wouldn't charge any more than $5 if somebody came to me needing one. Some stores like hardware stores that sell mower parts have them too, definitely mower dealers would have some but used will be cheaper. There are a few lengths available, so be sure you buy the correct one to have the right blade height when it is installed in the deck.
Lawn Chief was made by MTD, which is one of the more common sources of mowers, if you get one that isn't from an MTD it will still fit on the engine shaft, but the blade will need to be replaced with either a universal one or one specific to the adaptor that you get.
