I have a tree whose boughs are hanging over my sidewalk path. I don't want to cut the boughs. I want to train them to make a little archway. I was thinking two or three poles buried in the ground to hold them up over the path instead of in it. Will the tree grow into that shape?

It is possible but a lot would depend of the specie, size and age of the tree. A Willow or Wisteria would be ease but a hardwood like Oak or Hickory not so easy. Probably going to need something more staple/sturdy than 2 or 3 poles. Perhaps something made of metal and shaped like an arch?

The tree is maybe...8 feet tall. Its got multiple trunks about the size of a petite woman's thigh splitting out at the ground. If magic trails from Cinderella were a tree...it would look like this. I would upload a pic, but i don't know how to get them from the camera to the computer.
