Well, you can also find this posting at GTtalk. I'm posting this here so that many of you can either decide to repair and upgrade your Husqy tractor or opt out for a new one.
The first part of this posting is the frame repair and upgrade that was required after I tore the transaxle mounts while harrowing a section of my yard. While the frame itself is fairly sturdy, the trans mounts are a part of the rear frame stamping, so they're of the same gauge steel. We'll cover the transaxle switch over in the next posting.
By the photos that I have supplied, you can see where the original mounts tore and what I used to replace them. The bolts are 3/8" x 1.5" long with washers and Nylocks. Then I spot welded the 1/4" angle to the frame. By the way, I did cut away the old mounts. There was no point in trying to salvage them. But I measured the mounts to get the holes in the correct place.
If you end up doing the same, take care in your measurements and locating of the new mounts. Just like you're told to measure twice and cut once when handling wood, do the same here.
