I have been trying to repair a neighbor's Tecumseh, 6hp, wheeled trimmer. I can't get the danged carburetor to stop leaking, even though I've replaced the inlet valve and seat twice, new ones each time, and have replaced the float, float bowl and gasket. Gas keeps pouring out the intake end and the block end. Not dripping, pouring. It has to be because the inlet valve is not sealing for some reason, but for the life of me I can't see why. I also set the float level to 11/64 per the Tecumseh Technician's Manual. Nothing I do seems to make any difference except in hours of labor and cost of parts. This is an LEV 120 engine.
Does anyone have any ideas except having a witch doctor remove the jinx?

When you replaced the float needle and seat, did you use part number 631021B? If so are you sure that you put the seat in correctly? The rings on the float seat must be installed with the rings toward the carb body? Also, you must make sure that you push the new seat all the way in. I always apply a light coat of oil to the seat to make sure it slides in straight and easily. After you have done that, set the float so that it is parallel to the carb body. Before final bowl assembly, turn the carb upside down, so the float is closing the needle/seat, blow as hard as you can through the fuel inlet. Most people can not get the seat to open, which is good. Reassemble.

Thanks for the reply Rivets. I did all that but still had no luck but the bad kind. I even took the carb in the house and looked down into the valve well with a ring lighted magnifying lens to see if there was a crack or dent at the bottom. Didn't see anything wrong. It's a real puzzle.
