Hi All:

I need to repair two LB with 406 engines. The problem on both is the same: no fuel is injected into the carb when the primer plunger is activated. I have cleaned the carbs and they all work well after being hand primed. The gasoline just squirts out around the plunger. Yes, the plungers have been replaced with new LB parts.

Sounds like the fuel level in the bowl might be too low for the plunger to pick up fuel. Check the fuel supply and float level.

I had a bad coating on my cork float that was not able to be adjusted until I changed the float.
I do not know what kind of float is on that engine.. just sayin

Yeah it's a shellac coated cork float. I have restored quite a few of those D-400s and those old floats typically get replaced due to coating issues, or the brass hinge becomes loose because of deterioration of the cork surrounding it.
