Leaking gas tank, recall

My mower has been leaking some gas for a couple years now. Just got it out and filled the tank and it's leaking pretty bad at this point. Did a search and found there was a recall on these, my mower is actually in the recall list. No Lawn Boy dealer around these days but I wonder if there would be a possibility of getting a replacement tank? Anyone up on this? Sure makes a mess and probably not too safe either. Mower looks and runs too good to just junk it. Thanks!

Toro dealers should be able to help you out. They do the warranty service for Lawn Boy which are only sold by the big box stores.

Sent an email request to the Toro company, did get a quick response with a claim number etc. Nearest Toro dealer is 40 miles away and I really doubt they'd mess with the old LB mower anyway. Nothing magical about a gas tank but I would like to keep it as original as possible.

All you should need to do is call the number listed on the site below:

https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2001/cpsc-lawn-boy-inc-announce-recall-of-power-mowers

The recall specifically covers "SilverPro and GoldPro Series are walk-behind, 21- inch mowers powered by 2-cycle Duraforce engines."

I did not see a list of mower models covered under the recall, but either way you should reach out to lawn-boy directly to figure out what to do. If possible, ask if they can just send you a replacement part? They might be hesitant to since they would want to mitigate any risk associated with changing it out.

Looks like I'm on to plan B:

Thank you for your email.

You would need to see an authorized service technician for a full physical inspection of the mower, they will be able to diagnose and repair your mower.

Hope this helps!
