Lazer wont start. bypassed all operator presence switches, electric blade clutch clicks on and off when i pull the p.t.o button. but no sound or clicks from the starter. thought it might b the starter solenoid but when i crosed the two terminals the starter makes a whirling noise but does not turn the motor over. not sure if that means the starter is bad or if its a electrical issue. any help would b great!!

This might be a dumb question, but I must ask. Have you checked your fuses? Some of the early Z's even had a fuse under the seat for a total of 4. You can swap those 3 relays, they're the same. You can't always bypass the safety switches unless you know what multiple wires to jump that are on your brake safety switch. The clutch click is a good sign. Sometimes too on your ign switch you have a connector that has several wires plugged into it and you have another single connector (yellow wire I think) going to your switch that many times vibrates off. This is the trigger wire that energizes your starter. You will see this yellow (thin) wire also connected to your starter. You can check this if you have a meter. With the ground meter wire touch to the engine and the + meter wire put on that yellow wire on the starter. Have someone turn the key to the start position. You should see 12v. If you do, and it doesn't crank, then you have a solinoid/starter problem.

By simply touching the 2 red wires on the starter you are only activating the motor itself. You can try to also bridge the thin wire on the starter which will also energize the engagement solenoid.

After all that I am assuming you have the Kawasaki water pumper? (FD 750D?

If the starter spins but does not engage the engine, I suspect you have a bad bendix drive. Please post engine model numbers.
