Lookie what I found. It is an old OMC scuba compressor using a lawnboy engine. Anyone ever see these? Owned one, used it?

Johnson Air Buoy that needs a tune up or can be used for parts. All original. Uses a lawn boy engine (D-model) 2 stroke engine.

I've never seen or heard of this product but it's interesting. When was it made? I'm guessing mid-1970s.

Old man Evinrude lived just up the river in Ft Pierce, Florida.
I lived here for several years before I ever heard of the OMC test base located in Stuart. I would have tried to get a job there for sure.
What a life, getting paid to go out and abuse brand new OMC products on the river and offshore, trying to discover their weak links...
I read a story about Mr Evinrude sitting out back at his Florida home when he came up with the idea to put one of his two-stroke engines on a lawn machine. The rest is history!
After running across this, I did some google: Evinrude had a competing product called the Aquanaut. There are a few for sale on eBay and a few videos on You Tube for those who are interested.
No, I do not own this..... (yet).
It would be situated in an inflated innertube and would float around with you as you explored the Treasure Coast of Florida for submerged booty. And maybe even some sunken gold and jewelry aboard a wrecked pirate ship....
I thought you guys might have an interest in this gizmo.

http://www.boatinfo.no/lib/johnson/brochures/1967johnson.html#/20 Really an awesome product for those that wanted to dive without going through scuba diving school/certification, dealing with tanks, etc. Problems with CO poisoning and possible lawsuits caused them to be dropped after a few years, usually caused by owners modifying/removing/replacing the exhaust tube allowing exhaust to get too close to the air intake. Make sure the exhaust is in top shape if you want to try it. If the proper masks came with it, treat them kindly as they are hard to replace.

I remember all those old smokers from my youth. I am dated.
Yes, CO induction. I thought about that when I was viewing the youtube video and it was smoking as it warmed up.
That would ruin you outing with your favorite girl...
It does say just a few underwater swimming lessons. breath normal and never not hold your breath, when the air stops, exhale all the way to the surface...
