also brand new Coil and Cleaned points and condenser and gets good spark but will only run for tops REALLY ROUGH for maybe 5 sec carb cleaned and new plug 60-65 psi


if any repairs needed give me directions for engine work

The low compression is the likely problem. You can buy a piston for a D-series engine on eBay but they're a bit pricey, IMO. And that alone might not be enough.

If I were you I'd keep the mower and keep my eyes open for deals on other LBs with D-series engines. Then you can cross parts. I've made several good mowers that way.

Why throw it out? It has lots of good parts. If you don't have the space to keep it you could take it apart and sell the parts on eBay (I'll bet you could do pretty well but it does take time.)

I imagine you're probably frustrated about this but throwing it away is such a waste. :confused2:

In case you need specific instructions for working on the engine here's a link to a great online resource:

Bear in mind, the best thing you can do is hold onto the mower and keep looking for others in its class. I think Iowa is a good place for LB hunting -- better than Georgia. :laughing:

Why not just buy a set of rings for about 20 dollars and 2 oils seal for under 10 dollars.

Theres lawn boys all over wisconsin ive got so many on garbage day most of them need minor repairs
