Looking to buy new riding mower for .4 acre flat lot in upstate SC. Lots of pine needles to either mulch or bag. Is John Deere 100 Series good choice? Considering a D130 42" cut 22 HP. Appreciate input on that one, and/or recommendation for something better.

Research & read reviews on all equipment, then go test drive operating all controls, be patient & take your time searching for the right mower.

The combination blades that came on my LA 135 aren't worth a plug nickel for mulching and bagging would be a bigger joke. If a dealer won't sell you what you need buy it at a box store and then buy the blades needed for the job.

I have narrowed search to Snapper rear engine riders, choosing between RE110 which uses the friction disc drive and the RE210 with hydrostatic transmission. Hydro seems like better choice, but is more complicated than the simpler and time proven disc drive. Looking for educated opinion and/or relevant experience as to which is better choice.
