Ok i am new here but have always loved vintage mowers. I have wanted a lawnboy for quite some time and this poped up on CL

Lawnboy 2 cycle mower - cast aluminum deck
Is it worth it? Can you buy starter recoils? I am thinking of buying it and fixing it. A little more about my self , i love old items becuase they were made so much better than stuff now. I also collect coleman lanterns and stoves for the past 2 years , and love old stuff!

That isn't a really great deal but it's probably worth fixing.

It's a mid-1980s model, I'm guessing. The best ones are pre-1980, IMO.

A problem with the starter can be tough. If you have to replace the unit, it's over $100, but you can rig up manual pull rope for almost nothing -- it just won't look good. You might get lucky and be able to fix the unit that you have.

I totally agree that old things tend to be made better than the newer ones and Lawn-Boy mowers are a great example of that. The one you're looking at, however, is from a transition period when regulatory craziness was beginning to set in. :confused2:
