I just purchased a replacement for my old Lawn Boy model 8070 which lasted my dad and me more than 30 years, The "new" mower is a Lawn Boy model 8243. I was cleaning it up and looking it over after getting it home today and I could not find the priming bulb. My retired Lawn Boy had one and needed 4 primes before it would start. I have yet to try to start this new mower as it is raining and I can not find that priming bulb/button. Do the newer 2 cycle engines not require priming?

Read your manual. It will tell you exactly what you need to do to start your engine. You may even find out it is not a 2 cycle and does not use oil in the gas.

As the "newer" Lawn Boy was made in 1988, it no longer had a owner manual. I did find its priming bulb and also found out that it is indeed a 2 cycle. Its fuel tank says to use a 32:1 gas/oil mixture. The priming bulb is somewhat hidden under the shroud. Thanks for your interest.
