Hey guys,

We just purchased a 1967 lawn boy model 7217 off eBay, and I think we didn't get a complete shutoff switch assembly. Does anyone know how this mechanism works? The switch we have actually pops up out if the shroud (eg is removable) which I don't think it should do. Also when we turn it around to the off and on position, it doesn't look like it does anything, possibly because we are missing this part.. 604249 blade switch. We will order this part but does anyone know how this shutoff actually shuts off the mower? Thank you!

Pete

Sorry, I posted this in the wrong forum over a year ago and was wondering again if anyone had any info.. Thanks!

What you have is an old bricktop, the switch is designed to come off when you pull the shroud. The switch should consist of a long plastic rod, with a spring and a teardrop shaped piece of metal that hooks on the bottom of the plastic shaft and holds the spring on the shaft when rotated to the off position the piece of teardrop shaped metal comes in contact with a screw that has a wire on it from the coil, when it touches this screw it grounds it out against the top plate of the mower when on the on position it doesn't touch the screw therefore allowing spark??
