My husband stored an old Lawn Boy away under our cottage and now my friend is trying to start it
I can't seem to find out what type of oil to use and mixture ratio.
Is the model 5124 a two cycle engine?
Can you buy spark plugs for them?
I think it is an 1981 model based on the serial number

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this working?

Thanks

Your Lawn-Boy is 2 stroke it uses a 32 to 1 ratio gas oil mix.Use a good 2 stroke oil for air cooled engines.Spark plug is a Champion C14.Make sure all the old gas is out of the tank.

Thanks for your help.
Do you need to use high test gas with the oil mix?
Also I can find a service manual but not an operators manual.
Do you know where to download the operators manual?

My friend is going to get a new spark plug and try to start it.

Others have their opinions, but,I use highest octane non-ethanol gas available.
Depending on how long mower has been stored,I would check airfilter element before trying to start it.The foam has a tendency to get crumbly after a while. And make sure it turns over and not rusted.
I'm not familiar with that model, but most have a fuel valve on fuel tank that needs to be opened,if it has a primer push several times, turn switch on and pull the rope.
I don't know about an owners manual.
