Lawn Boy 2 stroke Cranks Hard

This is a 1995 Lawn Boy # 10201 2 stroke. When I pull the on the recoil it pulls really hard the first few turns. It does start up and runs really good. It just feels like something is holding on to the blade at first.
 
Reed valves sticking causing excessive crank pressure?the v force is prone to many different issues.I got 7 of them and am getting another tomorrow.I have come to the point that if they run just run it.do some research on that engine and you will find its a tecumseh design not a true Lawn Boy engineered product.Dont get me wrong they get the job done One or two of mine pull hard when starting too but they run better than the easier starting ones.I have one that I have to pull the spark plug and give it a shot of starting fluid every time when its cold but once its running it will run all day.Why do I have 7 of them?I cant give them away no one wants that model.
 
Thank you beg, That,s a good bet, I should of thought of that reed valve sticking closed. 8 out of 10 pulls the first few turns of the crank will be hard then it pulls easy. BUT when it starts it runs super. I have to leave the throttle on full all the time and shut the mower off with the blade brake. I need to find another throttle cable as the previous owner kinked the cable. I,m having a tough time finding one. I,m not sure if I have a F or a V engine. All I know it,s a 1995 model 10201 Ser# 530000+. I have a small fleet of Snappers but I Love these 2 stroke Lawn Boys. Thanks again beg.
 
Beg, I have a Husky chain saw that is really difficult to pull, then runs well. The compression release button does not help that much. Do you know if Husky uses a reed valve?
 
I've never owned a V block LawnBoy, but I have two Duraforce Lawnboys. They have a slightly higher compression ratio vs a D-400 or D-600 engine. I've checked the compression cold of the two Duraforce engines they are 105 and 110. They do pull harder than an engine with 70 psi cold. Plus the top mounted starter would require more effort than the side mounted starter as it's a leverage issue.

The 10201 has a V motor.
