LaserZh replace head gasket with engine installed, possible or not, Kawaski FH500v

Kawashi 17 hp twin no compression on left side. Is it better to remove the engine for replacing the head gasket. Or can it be done with the engine mounted it the ztr.

Maybe I can just remove the heat shield, shroud and to a head job with the engine still on the mower. Any thoughts!
