Hello all,
Does anyone know or where I can find out how to test for a bad relay box or V regulator for a G2000? I started out with a problem with the fuel and temp gauges not working but was told they did off and on. I have removed all the connectors and put no-ox in them, the two lights on the dash come on and I hear the relay in the box, but when I try to crank, I hear the solenoid click and the lights go out and dont come back on. just not sure about the relay/reg.

Thanks in advance.

Anytime you have problems like you describe , a good place to start is to first substitute a known good battery, next , remove your ground wire where connected to the frame and wire buff and re attach, next clean battery terminals where mated to battery. The clicking of the starter usually indicates low voltage during starter activation, meaning poor ground or bad battery(won't carry starter load). Next remove starter and bench test( free run) with a good know battery, and check for starter draw. A competent starter/alternator shop can do this for you, and also check the contacts inside for wear. Many times a contact replacement is all that is needed to restore starter function. What I a discribing here is generic testing for electrical problems. We have a starter and alternator shop and customers come in with just such issues, thinking the relays or other items are bad, when in fact only the battery or grounds are bad. DO THE BASICS FIRST, tHEN GO WITH THE CHARGING SYSTEM AND RELAYS AND WIRING.
HOPE THIS IS OF USE TO YOU. We solve lots of problems for customers by testing the starter and finding nothing wrong then sending them home to get a better or new battery or clean the starter cables and grounds. typing not so good, don't have a stroke!

Thanks notsofast!

Thanks for the reply back, yeah, the ground wire at the frame end (connector) had Intermitting problems!! Replaced cable with some #2 i had and fix the start /lights problem. but temp and fuel gauges still no go. and yes I would love to have a shop manual, if one is going to get involved as much as I seem to, just wouldn't ready to bust out $100 or so right now. but again, thanks for all you help and support at this point guys!
