I removed the starter from Kohler CV20 in the process 2- spacers fell to the floor When I replaced the starter with spacers between starter and engine block the drive gear will not engage flywheel with starter installed without spacers engages ok what am I missing. reason for removing i thought that engine was stuck found that starter drive gear had not retracted any help appreciated.
