Hi.

I bought a 1992 Grasshopper with Kohler Triad 18 HP (TH575S) v-twin gas engine. (595 orig hrs). At first, there was no spark, but I found it to be the seat switch. Now, the engine has good blue spark at both new spark plugs and even with starter fluid, will not fire. It appears that compression is coming out the carb because it spits and I can feel the pressure out the carb and some sucking in at the muffler???? it does not appear the timing belt has jumped. It is fairly tight

I read it could be an ignition issue, but not sure if it could be the ignition modules (Coils), Voltage regulator (Which I doubt) stator, or something else. Can anyone help me? I have a pic of the engine- front torn down, but not sure how to display a pic on this site.

Thank you,
Marc

Expensive to repair and some of the parts are no longer available. Something is common with that timing belt engine is it also runs the oil pump gear, and that gear tends to wear the pin area that holds in in place. I have seen them where you could turn the oil pump drive gear 1/4 turn on the oil pump shaft. Gear NLA.
