We are looking at a Scag Cheetah, 52" deck, and wondering which engine has the best quality? The Kohler engine comes with either fuel injection or carburetor, which should we choose? (Kawasaki only has carburetor). Any idea how much the dealer might take off the price? We can wait longer if there might be end of year specials. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

As I own a Hustler X-ONE with a KawasakiFX730V engine, I'm going to highly recommend the Kawasaki. I also have a Scag Tiger Cub that I have repowered with a Briggs Cyclonic Air Filter engine, however I agonized about this repower as I had my heart set on repowering with a Kawasaki. The cost difference was the major factor in my decision as my Scag was originally powered with a Briggs.
The Hustler/Kawasaki has proven to be a sweet running engine and I prefer carbureted engines on my machines as I can service them easily myself, however I am a retired mechanic.
There may be others that prefer Kohler and/or fuel injection, but EFI involves more electronic components to control the system and an electric fuel pump which in my opinion increases the initial cost of the machine and adds to maintenance expenses.

Just my spin on this subject!!!
