Kohler LT1050 wont start with key

Hello I have a Cub Cadet LT1050. Kohler engine SV720S. My mower wouldnt start so put a new ignition switch on it. When you turn the key nothng happens except you can hear the cylinord ingage. If you take a screwdriver to the cylinord it will start though. Any ideas

Assuming starter solenoid and not fuel solenoid on carb. If starter solenoid engages need to check for power from the solenoid to the starter. If the fuel solenoid clicks but not the starter solenoid need to check for 12 volts to the small terminal on the solenoid with the key in the start position. If 12 volts there then need to replace solenoid. If no voltage then need to check clutch switch and pto switch to make sure they are operating correctly
