Kohler K161 integrity

Getting ready to restore a 1966 Cub Cadet 71 that has a Kohler K161 7hp engine. Tractor has a 38" deck and was wondering if this small of an engine can handle that size deck?

the 71 originally came with a 7 hp kohler and a 38 inch deck. the old engines had more torque as compared to todays engines.
