I have a Kohler Command 30hp and have a question about ignition coils. My engine has been converted to the MDI version via a Kohler kit before I got it. One of the coils seems to be going out and I bought an aftermarket one (See photos attached) that supposedly fits this model. It’s different from the ones on there now. They have a ring terminal that goes under one of the two bolts holding the coil in place. It did say it wouldn’t work for DSAI, which I don’t have anymore. Will this work and if so what do I do with the short piece of wire with the male spade fitting?
mdi coils are digital spark advance, the small ring loop is to suppress rfi. I have no idea what coil that is. but for less than 100 bucks you can get a new coil kit. comes with 2 coils part number is 25 707 03-s
Replacing both coil is a good practice anyway since Kohler put out a bulletin late last year about changes to the modules, and the new module will have a high voltage kill wire which can cause problems if they are matched with a low voltage kill module.
