I put this engine on my mower about 4 years ago. About 2 weeks ago I was mowing, just like I had good sense, and the engine cut off. Just like it would if you turned it off with the key. No sputtering. Nothing. I have found out that it does have a spark. New plug. Plenty of gas. Won't hit a lick. Anyone have an idea?

When you turn the key on and off, can you hear the fuel solenoid on the carb click. If yes, try putting a small amount of gas into the intake, or spark plug holes, and see if it will start on that, If start and die, then you have a fuel problem. Either faulty fuel pump, clogged carb, or the fuel solenoid.
If it doesn't start, then post back for more ideas.
