My XT6 is about 3.5 years old and has never given me any trouble until recently. I change the oil, plug, air filter, and drain the fuel each year. I also use Shell V Power with a little Seafoam in the gas.
Lately is has been acting like it was going to die even if its not mowing through high grass, or just running. Seems to idle down real low then kick back up and backfire a bit. Ive cleaned the carb and fuel tank which I found no trash. Funny thing is it doesn't always do it.
I've read that it could be the carb or Auto Choke, so I wondering which I should replace.
Can't wait to get it fixed since its adding extra time to mow our 1/4 acre.
Well put on a new carb today and still doing the same thing. The Auto Choke seemed to be working though. I give up. Any suggestions on what else it could be.

Well got the new carb on and had no change. Repair shop drilled out one of the jets and changed the fuel cap. No change.
Funny thing is it doesn't do it all the time. First 10 mins its perfect then acts up then all the sudden it will stop. Not really sure what it could be but I do know its aggregating.
Recheck spark plug and make sure it's gaped to specs., air filter & inside filter housing clean? Lastly, use 93 octane gas on your equipment, does not have to be shell brand. My question to you is, does Kohler or any other engine manufacturer recommend or suggest using seafoam to clean the fuel system and if they don't why use it?
Spark plug was replaced this season and looks good. Air filter and housing are clean I clean it out every third use or so. I've also been running 93 octane the whole time I've had the mower and use the same mixture in all my equipment. It crazy but when I took the old carb off the thing was spotless inside. I thought for sure I would find some crud but did not. I'm really wondering if it has something to do with the Auto Choke. Other than I dunno.
