I have a 2005 Ariens MiniZoom1540 ZTR with a Kohler Courage Series SV470S 15-HP Engine. Recently the plastic dip stick broke off inside the oil fill tube and I can not for the life of me get the broken end out of the fill tube. Not sure this was the best design by Kohler but nonetheless this is where I am at. I have tried the smallest needle-nosed pliers without any luck. Has anybody experienced same and/or have another suggestion to remove broken dip stick? Thanks!
Take an 1/8" wooden dowel, put a large glog of grease (white lithium not sticky enough) on the end. Insert it into the tube until it sticks to the dipstick and pull it out. A long thin screwdriver works in our shop for many hard to reach items.
