***Update - I just check power at the starter while turning ignition and I measured 4 volts with my multi-meter. My battery if fully charged with 12 volts but when the starter is under load its only getting 4 volts. Could this mean a bad battery?***
When turning the ignition on my 2010 Cub Cadet LT1050 with a Kohler Courage 25 (SV730) the engine does not crank. I have a fully charged battery and tested 12 volts coming into, and going out of, the solenoid. I decided to replace the starter as it has always struggled to crank the engine. I expected the engine to fire right up but it doesn't crank at all. I can hear the starter engaging (again, its brand new) but no luck cranking the engine. I service my mower at the beginning of each season so my last oil change was a few months ago but I haven't had any knocking or smoking to indicate engine issues.
I'm thinking perhaps a compression lock issue but I'm not sure that would be it. Is there a way to release compression or hand crank the engine???? Any other ideas?
Check out wiring diagrams close to end of manuals for LT & LTX tractors. Check your fuses to see if they are blown. Inspect all wiring and connections for being tight and secure, especially ground cables and straps. If you ever suspect you have a bad battery, remove it and take it to local auto parts store and have them load test battery, should be no charge to you.
