Kohler Command Pro 27hp Connecting Rod Bolts Torque?

The Kohler manual says:

Three different types of connecting rod bolts have
been used and each has a different torque value. If 8
mm straight shank type bolts are used, torque in
increments to 22.7 N·m (200 in. lb.). If 8 mm stepdown
bolts are used, torque in increments to 14.7
N·m (130 in. lb.). If 6 mm straight shank bolts are
used, torque in increments to 11.3 N·m (100 in. lb.).

But my bolts are 10mm? Or to be more specific, they take a 10mm socket. Straight shank for what it's worth. Are they talking about the thread measurement? I feel like they would have called it M6 or M8 if that was true? I don't want to over (or under) torque these vital bolts.

Bolts are measured by thread diameter not what wrench is used.

Screw size are the diameter of main part of screw (yes the threads) and not the hex head. Now a M10 step down screw will an un-threaded portion that is 10mm and a threaded section that is 8mm.

Normally M6 Flange head screws uses a 10mm wrench or socket. M10 flange head screws normally uses 13mm wrench or socket. But may had these specially made so head size might not be correct.
