Doing a ring job on this engine. Checked end play on crank - about .035". Not sure how to check cam without special tool, but I put two long screwdrivers down lifter bores to pry against sides of lobes - had enough play to feel but very small compared to crank. My guess is I don't need to worry about the cam? I see the Kohler manual says there's a shim to adjust crankshaft end play. I found no shim on crank or cam. I don't think I could possibly have missed or lost something like that. I'm not experienced on these Kohlers, so I need someone who is. Help! Thanks.

Oops! Just read manual again. I misread spec on crank end play - thought it was .003-.005 (Aprox.). I had my decimal point in the wrong place in my mind. The high end is actually close to .050, not .005. If you have any other input, I'm all ears but I think problem is solved. Thanks.
