Kohler 7000 slow cold start

I got a Kohler 7000 20 hp on a Craftsman T1800. It runs great and starts great after the first time but when its cold it will not start for 5-7 seconds. Any ideas. Here's what I've done: adjusted choke, (I can see it close and open with the linkage), replaced fuel, swapped the fuel pump with a spare, and put a new starter on. Also there is not a noticible difference if I put the choke on when its running. Any ideas would be great! I feel like its something simple but can't seem to find it.
