The motor looses power, and will sometimes gain it back while cutting. Sometimes it will run fine for long a couple of hours, other times it runs with loss of power the whole time I'm cutting. I've used carb/injector cleaner in the fuel. Bought the lawn tractor new in 2007, has a little less than 400 hours on it. When the power drops, I can smell gas while running.

Well first look at the complete length of fuel line from tank to pump/carb. Generally the engine mfgrs have a better quality
fuel line, which of course is closer to the engine, the run to the tank usually cracks first.
