Killed HRX217 - Swap engine from pressure washer?

I killed my old HRX217 last week when I ran it out of oil. My bad. The rest of the mower is still in great condition and I like the features that make it easier for my son to mow the lawn. I just don't want to spend another $699 on a new HRX.

But, I do have a new pressure washer I bought last year with a GCV190 engine on it. I'm thinking I could just swap the washer engine over to the mower and just buy a new washer for $300.00 instead of spending $699 on a new HRX. Is that even possible? I'm assuming most everything will mount right up. Not sure about the speed controls, etc. Might have to retain the carb from the mower? I replaced it last year so it's new.

Any ideas? Easy? Hard?

Are you sure your washer engine is GCV (vertical) and not a GC? I ask because converting a GC (horizontal) to a GCV is not worth the effort.

Now even if it is a GCV (vertical) on your washer, get me the serial number, starts off like "GXXXX-1234567" and I'll ask our engineers what it would take to make this work on an HRX frame.

Also need the serial number off the HRX's frame. It's in the form of "MXXX-1234567".

Are you sure your washer engine is GCV (vertical) and not a GC? I ask because converting a GC (horizontal) to a GCV is not worth the effort.

Now even if it is a GCV (vertical) on your washer, get me the serial number, starts off like "GXXXX-1234567" and I'll ask our engineers what it would take to make this work on an HRX frame.

Hey, I appreciate the feedback. As soon as I started the tear-down process on the mower, I decided to try and break the internals of the engine loose by hand. I removed the recoil assembly and I noticed the large nut holding everything together. I added some oil, spun the motor around as fast as I could with my ratchet handle to get some oil circulating and it's alive again! It was definitely out of oil and it was definitely locked up but I think I dodged a bullet. The only oil I had was some heavy 10W-40 so I am going to have to swap that out to something lighter but all is good (for now). I'll just keep mowing with it until it gives up.
