Hi All
I'm new to mower repait so probably missing something.
I have a Mountfield SP554 with B&S SV200 and I'm getting a lot of kickback when starting. I've checked the flywheel key and it's in tact and aligned correctly, I've checked the valve clearance and that was 0.1mm as specified and even inspected the camshaft to make sure the compression relief mechanism is working (it is).
Any other suggestions of things I should check?
Thanks

.1mm is .003" ..... Seems a bit tight to me... Post up the model number... Should be stamped around the spark plug or muffler
Ex. 123456_1234-aa
.10mm is the correct valve clearance according to the service manual. Here’s a service manual for your engine, if you don’t have one. I would be rechecking the flywheel key by removing the flywheel to inspect. Even a slight cut will affect timing, plus reset the armature air gap. http://www.servicelink.org.uk/sites/default/files/Manuals/m60.pdf
